The University of Plymouth is a public university located in the city of Plymouth, England. It was founded in 1862 as the School of Navigation. In 1887, it became the School of Marine Engineering and Nautical Architecture and in 1928 it was renamed Plymouth Polytechnic. In 1992, it became the Polytechnic South West and on April 1, 2015, it was renamed the University of Plymouth.
