A 5 team double elimination bracket is a tournament format that allows for each team to compete in at least two matches before being eliminated from the tournament. The bracket is designed to accommodate five teams, where each team will play multiple matches in order to determine the final winner of the tournament.
In a double elimination bracket, each team has the opportunity to lose one match and still remain in the tournament. If a team loses a match in the winner’s bracket, they will be moved to the loser’s bracket where they will have the opportunity to compete against other teams that have also lost a match. If a team loses a match in the loser’s bracket, they are eliminated from the tournament.
The bracket is structured in a way that ensures that all teams will have an equal opportunity to compete for the championship, even if they lose a match early on in the tournament. The bracket is designed so that the ultimate winner will have had to win at least two matches against each of the other teams in the tournament.
Here is a 5 team double elimination bracket:
Round 1: Match 1: Team 1 vs Team 2 Match 2: Team 3 vs Team 4
Round 2: Match 3: Winner of Match 1 vs Team 5 Match 4: Winner of Match 2 gets a bye
Round 3: Match 5: Loser of Match 1 vs Loser of Match 2 Match 6: Winner of Match 4 vs Winner of Match 5
Round 4: Match 7: Loser of Match 3 vs Winner of Match 6
Round 5: Match 8: Winner of Match 3 vs Winner of Match 7
Note: If the team coming from the loser’s bracket wins in Match 8, then a final match between the two remaining teams would be played to determine the ultimate winner.
